NEW YORK — It was a wet start today but it was much needed rain.
Even though Central Park got .65 inches of rain, that still places the monthly total at a 1.40-inch deficit.
Heavy rain flooded parts of Rt 202 in New Jersey. There were also reports of downpours across the region with totals of up to an inch of rain in some areas. The dreary day caused temperatures to fall short of seasonable highs, but those numbers are slated to rebound in the coming days.
Anticipate a return of sunshine tomorrow with highs in the upper 60s. The dry weather returns on Memorial Day as highs top out near 70. The dry streak will last through mid-week with highs in the upper 70s, low 80s.
However, showers will likely return later in the day Thursday followed by more rain on Friday. After a cloudy start to Saturday, expect increasing shine with afternoon temperatures near 80 degrees.
