PHILADELPHIA, P.A. — The Yankees-Phillies game was postponed Tuesday for the second straight day, according to a person familiar with the league’s decision.
The Phillies are waiting for complete results from their COVID-19 tests following an outbreak among the Miami Marlins, who played a weekend series in Philadelphia.
The Yankees would have been in the same clubhouse the Marlins used this past weekend. The team also expressed concerns about facing players who had just closely interacted with people who tested positive for the virus, the Daily News reported on Monday.
The Marlins’ home opener against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday was also scrapped due to the virus outbreak. The team has been stranded in Philadelphia since the positive test results.
The Yankees plan to leave Philadelphia and practice in the Bronx Tuesday night, the New York Post reported.
The Yankees are scheduled to host the Phillies on Wednesday and Thursday.
