UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan — The Luxxe MedSpa on the Upper East side was open for barely a month when the COVID-19 pandemic forced it to abruptly close its doors.
"The day when the first state of emergency was declared by Gov. Cuomo, we were actually at our open house on that same day," owner Desrene Brown, M.D. FACOG, told PIX11 News. "Then it all stopped."
Brown, who is a board certified aesthetician, obstetrician and gynecologist, is at the helm of the innovative spa which offers an array of aesthetic and beauty treatments for all skin types.
Like all health and wellness facilities, Dr. Brown was forced to revisit procedures, putting new safety measures in place when she got the green light to open back up.
"We have cut the amount of clients that we see in half so we are scheduling staggered appointments," she explained. "Of course, we are checking everyone at the door with their temperature and giving the questionnaires."
N-95 Masks have become the norm at the spa, giving clients reassurance that safety is a priority.
From massages, hydra facials to vaginal rejuvenation, the services have become essential for some especially with the current climate.
Non-invasive fat reduction procedures are also high in demand.
The Luxxe MedSpa is located at:
