NYC snowfall hits 4 inches; areas north of the city as high as 8 inches

While snowfall totals in New York City were as low as an inch in the city, suburban areas weren't as lucky.

According to the National Weather Service, areas north and west of the city in New York and New Jersey hit as many as 8 inches of snow, including in West Milford, New Jersey and Carmel, New York.

Manhattan was measured at 4 inches, while JFK Airport saw as little as an inch. The nearby city of Newark got up to 5 inches.

New Jersey

  • Franklin Lakes - 5.9 inches
  • Ridgewood - 1.0 inches
  • Cedar Grove - 4.6 inches
  • Harrison - 1.5 inches
  • Newark Airport - 1.4 inches

New York

  • Central Park - 1.0 inches
  • Middletown - 8.0 inches
  • Monroe - 6.3 inches
  • LaGuardia - 0.3 inches
  • JFK - 1.0 inches
  • Islip Airport - 0.2 inches
