PUERTO RICO — A series of powerful earthquakes struck Puerto Rico and brought the entire island into darkness.

At least one person is dead, several others are injured, and thousands remain without power as the island's governor, Wanda Vazquez, declared a state of emergency.

Puerto Rican native and former NYC Council Speaker, Melissa Mark-Viverito, talks about the earthquake's devastation and how the island is working to rebuild.
