Crossing guard struck, injured near Staten Island school: authorities

WOODROW, Staten Island — A crossing guard was struck by a vehicle near a Staten Island school Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Emergency officials were called to the vicinity of Woodrow Road and Vineland Avenue in Staten Island around 8 a.m. Intermediate School 75 is located at the intersection

The 57-year-old crossing guard was in uniform when she was struck, police said. She was taken to the hospital in serious condition with injuries to her arm and leg, according to authorities.

The 69-year-old driver remained at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.
