SOUTH JAMAICA, QUEENS — It’s a big day - you ask why? Ok.
Well it’s Dr. Seuss’ birthday - hip hip hooray!
The man who gave us green eggs, a grinch and a cat.
All classic tales, that deserve a tip of the hat.
All around town, kids read a book to celebrate.
Many of them in (Queens Public Library) South Jamaica, some as young as eight.
“My favorite Dr. Seuss book is ‘Green Eggs & Ham’ because it teaches you not to judge a book by its cover,” 9-year-old Muhammad Chowdery told PIX11.
It's true, at any age, ‘Seuss’ is always a hit.
With mothers, brothers, teachers, it's something they'll all admit.
Of the lessons he's taught, they all made us wiser.
He was the granddad we never knew, sort of like an adviser.
Here's a gem I remember reading back in the day.
A string of words he wrote that remain with me to this day.
“Be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact.
And remember that life’s a great balancing act.”
