Teen shot near Queens school

QUEENS VILLAGE, Queens — A teen was rushed to a local hospital after he accidentally shot himself near a Queens high school on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Emergency Medical Services responded to Martin Van Buren High School at 230th Street and Hillside Avenue around 2:40 p.m., according to the FDNY.

Police said the teenage victim, 16, accidentally shot himself in the leg near the school, then rushed back to the school for help.

Officers have not yet recovered a weapon.

No additional information was immediately available on the condition of the teen.
