Man dead after crashing Revel moped into light pole in Queens: police

MIDDLE VILLAGE, Queens — A man is dead after crashing a Revel moped into a light pole in Queens early Tuesday, authorities said.

According to police, the 32-year-old man was driving the moped northbound on Woodhaven Boulevard., near 67th Drive, just after 3 a.m.

Officials said the man failed to navigate the roadway and ended up striking light pole within the center median of the road, sending him flying off the vehicle.

Officers responding to a 911 call for the crash found the man lying in the roadway with severe head trauma, authorities said.

EMS responded and rushed the man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The NYPD have identified the victim as Jeremy Malave of Brooklyn.

The deadly crash is just the latest in a string of incidents across New York City involving the Revel mopeds. Just over a week ago, the city's first death involving a Revel moped occurred in Greenpoint.
