QUEENS — A Delta flight was temporarily grounded at John F. Kennedy Airport Monday night due to coronavirus concerns on the plane, the airline confirmed.
Delta Flight 2503 was set to head to Seattle, Washington Monday night but returned to JFK Airport after a passenger on board discovered they had possibly been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
The passenger reportedly alerted a flight attendant and aviation medical consultants recommended the customer be taken off the plane and be evaluated, Delta said.
Delta said the aircraft was then cleaned following the guidelines from the Center For Disease Control and local health officials.
"The safety and health of our customers and crew remain our top priority," Delta said in a statement.
The flight was eventually able to take off and departed from JFK around 10 p.m. Monday.
