QUEENS, N.Y. — A man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a SUNY Buffalo student outside of a Queens deli earlier this week, police said Wednesday.
Alleged gunman Jeffrey Thurston and the victim got into an argument on Monday after the victim tried to walk by him inside the 136 Deli & Grill on Springfield Boulevard, NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said. The argument escalated and Thurston allegedly punched the victim in the face.
Video shows the victim chase Thurston outside, where the two struggle on the ground. Once they stood, Thurston allegedly shot the victim once in the abdomen, critically injuring him.
Harrison on Wednesday praised the NYPD for finding and arresting Thurston within 48 hours of the shooting.
Police have not publicly released charges against him, as of Wednesday afternoon.
