NEW YORK — The girls of Girl Scout Troop 6000 are celebrating three successful years in the cookie business with a new sales goal, and you can help them reach it.

Troop 6000 is comprised of young girls who live in New York City's shelter system.

They started in 2018 with just eight members and have since grown to more than 500 girls in 20 shelter locations across the five boroughs.

The girls are hoping to sell 6,000 boxes by Monday, Feb. 24, which marks the troop's third anniversary.

The money raised by cookie sales goes toward funding such activities as camp outings, earning badges and expanding Troop 6000's availability to more girls in the shelter system.
