PATERSON, N.J. — A shooting on a street in a northern New Jersey community has left one man dead and four others wounded, authorities said.
It wasn’t clear what sparked the shooting, which occurred early Thursday in the area of North Main and Jefferson streets in Paterson.
Authorities also aren't sure if the shooter was on foot or in a vehicle when the gunfire erupted.
The Passaic County Prosecutors’s office said the victims ranged in age from 19 to 26.
All five were taken to hospital, and a 25-year-old man died there a short time later from his injuries. The other four men were hospitalized in stable condition.
