21-year-old fatally shot in Jersey City: prosecutor

JERSEY CITY — A 21-year-old is man is dead after a shooting in Jersey City Saturday, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

Jersey City police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Ocean Avenue at just after 3:15 p.m. Saturday. Officers found the victim, a 21-year-old from Jersey City later identified as Akim Ward, with wounds to his upper body.

The victim was taken to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead at 3:31 p.m. Cause of death is pending a medical examiner's findings.

No arrests have been made at this time.
