ALPINE, N.J. — A Brooklyn man who apparently got out of his minivan because he thought he had hit an animal was struck and killed by a car on a parkway linking New York and New Jersey.

Police say the 41-year-old man was hit Thursday on the northbound Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine, New Jersey, just before the New York state line.

Another man was struck and killed by a car Friday night on a different part of the Palisades, about 20 miles north in Pomona, New York.

Police said 47-year-old Genoval Gonzalez Quintana was hit while walking in the southbound lanes of the parkway around 11:15 p.m. Friday.
