Nearly 5,000 NYCHA residents without heat and hot water Friday night

Nearly 5,000 residents were without heat and hot water at NYCHA buildings in the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn Friday night, according to NYCHA's website.

The most people affected were at the Patterson Houses in the Bronx, where over 4,100 people are without water.

Another 211 are without hot water at the Sedgwick Houses, while Astoria's Ravenswood had 178 without hot water. Another 176 are without hot water at Unity Plaza in Brooklyn. The outages were reported as early as 6:41 a.m. Friday.

A total of 4,795 residents were affected as of Friday evening. NYCHA claimed to have staff working on the problems at three of the buildings.
