GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan — A homeless man has been arrested after allegedly sucker punching a woman after she exited a Lower Manhattan subway station Wednesday morning, police said.

According to officials, 26-year-old Eugene Webb was arrested Thursday and is expected to face charges including two counts of assualt and harassment.

Just after 6 a.m. Wednesday, the 23-year-old woman was walking eastbounnd on Houston Street, after just exiting the Varick Street subway station in Greenwhich Village, when the homeless man randomly walked up to her and began punching her in the face multiple times, police said.

The attack caused the woman to fall to the ground, at which point the man fled the scene, officials said.

The victim ran into a local Pilates studio for help and people at the studio called 911.

EMS took the woman to a nearby hospital where she was treated for bruises to her face as well as two missing teeth, knocked out in the brutal attack, authorities said.
