A 6-year-old girl remains hospitalized after being stabbed when two men robbed her father on Manhattan's Lower East Side, according to police.

The NYPD said the little girl was walking with her dad around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, near the intersection of Monroe and Pike streets, when the two men approached them.

The knife-wielding suspects proceeded to rob the father of his credit cards and a bracelet, authorities said.

When the girl got between the robbers and her father she was inadvertently stabbed in the abdomen, according to police.

The child was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently only listed as being "stable," by officials. There is no further information on her condition at this time.

It is not known if the father was injured during the robbery.

Police are now looking for the two suspects as the investigation continues.
