FLATIRON DISTRICT, Manhattan — Police are on the hunt for a man behind a double shooting that left a young woman dead and young man hospitalized early Friday in Manhattan's Flatiron District.
Amid a night of gun violence across New York City, the shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. near the corner of East 26th Street and Fifth Avenue, right by Madison Square Park, police said.
Authorities said the shooter got out of his car and shot a 19-year-old woman in the chest and a 21-year-old man in the leg, before hopping back in a gray sedan and fleeing the scene.
Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead, officials said.
The man's condition is not known but police said he is "stable."
The relationship between the two victims was not immediately known.
No arrests have been made and police said the investigation remains ongoing.
The double shooting comes amid another bloody night in New York City.
There were at least eight shooting incidents across the city in under 12 hours overnight, leaving 11 people wounded, according to officials.
