FARMINGDALE, NY — An off-duty NYPD officer was charged Thursday with murder in the shooting death of a longtime friend on Long Island.
The state attorney general’s office charged officer Errick Allen after investigating the May 12 shooting under its authority to review killings of unarmed civilians by law enforcement officers.
Nassau County Police said cops responded to a 911 call of a shooting around 8 p.m. that night and discovered the body of a 25-year-old man with gunshot wounds in front of a home on Langdon Road in Farmingdale.
Allen is expected to be arraigned Thursday.
Messages seeking comment were left with his union and the NYPD.
