Human remains found behind Long Island home: police

CENTEREACH, L.I. — Suffolk County Police are investigating after human remains were discovered Sunday on a residential property on Long Island.

According to police, officers responded around 5:25 p.m. to a 911 call reporting skeletal remains found behind a home on Jay Road in Centereach.

The remains were taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to be examined, officials said.

Detectives from the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad are now investigating, according to authorities.
