Cellino sues Barnes to dissolve iconic law firm

NEW YORK — Calling eight may not do much for you anymore if you're looking for an attorney.

Iconic law firm Cellino & Barnes may finally be splitting up after a years-long dispute between partners Ross Cellino Jr. and Stephen Barnes. They are making plans to open their own, separate law firms within the next 30 days, Cellino wrote in an affidavit filed in court on Friday.

"After three years of needless, wasteful litigation, during which respondent Barnes has lost virtually every contested issue in this matter — including his motion before this Court to dismiss the dissolution proceeding, and his unsuccessful appeal of this Court's decision denying that motion — respondent Barnes now accepts the reality of this situation and has advised this court he will consent to a dissolution of Cellino & Barnes P.C.," Cellino wrote.

The split comes about six decades after the personal injury firm was founded by Ross Cellino Sr.

According to the firm, their lawyers have obtained over $2 billion in settlements and verdicts for clients since 1999.

The firm is well known for its "Call 8" jingle advertising their phone number: 1-800-888-8888.
