CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn — A 17-year-old was shot and killed in front of his home in Brooklyn Friday night, according to the NYPD.
Jahiem Guinn was outside of his apartment building on Dean Street in Crown Heights around 10:20 p.m. when he was shot in the head, police said.
EMS rushed the teen to Interfaith Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
Guinn is the latest victim in a recent spike of gun violence plaguing the city.
Earlier Friday, a 39-year-old man was fatally shot in the face near his home on President Street in Crown Heights, police said.
Shootings are up more than 68% citywide so far this year compared to the same time period in 2019, according to NYPD data.
On Saturday, advocates and community members will gather around 12 p.m. outside the Harlem State Office Building on West 125th Street in Manhattan for a rally against gun violence.
