BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn — Michelle Anderson has a for passion hair, but also a passion for people.
Anderson owns a salon on Fulton street on the heart of Bed-Stuy.
“It’s more than hair. It’s a family here," she said.
For more than 25 years, Anderson has been doing business, and while she says the neighborhood has changed around her, she has somehow managed to stay open. Her staff of eight are well-known in the community for their cuts — and also their connections.
Monday afternoon is not traditionally a busy day for salons, but Michelle’s was buzzing.
Deaquan Halsey is a stylist at the salon; his customers call him “Greatness.”
“I was raised in a barber shop my whole life — as long as I can remember," he said.
Greatness says he came from greatness: his father was a barber too.
Owner Anderson is all about education, and teaching young stylists, giving them careers and changing lives.
She's starting her own product line made of hemp.
