CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn — Update: A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting, police say.

A 39-year-old man was shot in the face and killed in Crown Heights, Brooklyn Friday evening, according to police.

Ancil Blackman was shot just after 5:30 p.m. outside of Miller Evangelical Christian Union Church on President Street, just steps away from his apartment building, police said. He suffered a gunshot wound to the face, police said.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
