Man dashes with $12,000 in fake social media car sale: police

BOROUGH PARK, Brooklyn — A man is wanted for getting a way with $12,000 in cash after tricking a Brooklyn resident via social media Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place at 6:10 p.m. in the area of 12th Avenue and 61st Street in Borough Park. A 31-year-old man made an agreement via social media to buy a vehicle from an unidentified man. When he arrived at the residence, the victim allowed the man to count the money agreed upon for purchase.

The victim became distracted and the man ran away. He entered a dark-colored Audi and fled with $12,000.

No arrests have been made. An investigation is ongoing.
