THE BRONX — Santa Claus made a surprise visit to the newborn babies and pediatric emergency room at Saint Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx on Christmas morning.

"It's a blessing and I'm happy," said new mom Jauhara Kadir. "It's Christmas and it's a new baby."

Kadir gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Dec. 23.

Faces lit up as Santa brought gifts to young children in the emergency room during the holiday. Isabella, 5, showed off her new presents.

"He gave me this crocodile and someone else gave me this Peppa Pig," she said.

The holiday mission was made possible thanks to Santa's extra special helpers. FDNY Emergency Medical Technicians handed out presents in memory of fallen EMT Yadira Arroyo, who was killed on the job in 2017.

"She was an amazing person, an amazing, amazing person.," Arroyo's uncle David Malaga told PIX11.

Arroyo's partner, Louis Montalvo was part of the hospital giveaway remembering Arroyo as someone who " never carried out a shift or did a tour without asking about the wellbeing of others."
