MOTT HAVEN, the Bronx — The 23-year-old woman who was wounded in an unprovoked subway attack is speaking out.
Rabia Bugum said that she was on the 6 train at about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx when a strange man began following her from car to car.
Bugum said the man then started slashing her with a sharp object.
She says that she screamed for help—but no one stepped in until after the attack.
The NYPD has released surveillance video of a man who they are looking for in the investigation of this seemingly random attack.
The man in that video was wearing a black jacket and green hat.
The woman has several stitches, including near her forehead.
Authorities say that this attack has prompted police to revamp their strategy in subway security.
