FLATIRON, Manhattan — It's an opera turned into a country-western musical and audiences are loving it.
"Das Barbecu," a raucous dinner theater production is underway at the Hill Country Barbecue Market-where they're serving up brisket and bursts of laughter.
“Das Barbecu” is re-imagining of Wagner's "The Ring Cycle".
The performance comes with all the fixins' as the five cast members playing 30 different characters entertain you for two hours.
“Das Barbecu” is brought to life by On Site Opera, an organization dedicated to presenting site-specific opera productions in non-traditional venues throughout New York City. Eric Einhorn, the artistic director for On Site Opera says there’s something for everyone. “I want people to experience music and storytelling in a really intimate and up-close way.”
