NEW YORK — The future of more than one million New York City school students remains in limbo.

There’s no clear-cut plan to reopen schools in September and whether or not they will reopen at all.

The state released its guidelines, providing a framework for a return to the classroom.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo unveiled a state formula that decides if schools get a green light to reopen.

Mayor Bill de Blasio was a bit more optimistic about schools reopening.

President of the United Federation of Teachers, Michael Mulgrew spoke to PIX11 Morning News and weighed in on the school reopening plan.

The UFT has also set up a petition that calls for protections that need to be in place before schools can reopen.
