SUFFOLK COUNTY — Three more Suffolk County residents have been diagnosed with coronavirus, according to County Executive Steve Bellone.

The total number of cases in Suffolk County is now four, according to Bellone.

The first of the three new patients is a man in his early 20s, Bellone said. He's a Town of Brookhaven resident currently hospitalized in isolation.

The second patient is a woman in her hearly 20s. She's a Southold Town resident under home isolation.

The third patient is a man in his 80s, currently hospitalized in isolation.

"We are continuing to work closely with the New York State Department of Health to ensure a swift and effective investigation," Bellone said, adding it is believed that the cases were contracted through community transmission.

A spokesperson from Suffolk County said there are also several other patients under investigation, as well as eight people under mandatory quarantine and 72 people being monitored under precautionary quarantine having recently returned from abroad.

Based on these new cases, New York state has diagnosed 176 individuals with coronavirus.
