Rise Up New York! virtual telethon raises money for New Yorkers impacted by COVID-19

NEW YORK — Monday night's star-studded telethon, Rise Up New York!, raises money for COVID-impacted New Yorkers. IHeartMedia's John Sykes told PIX11 Morning News what to expect for the benefit event hosted by Tina Fey.

The Robin Hood Foundation’s virtual event includes some of New York’s most notable celebrities, including Alicia Keys, Billy Joel and Robert DeNiro.

Funds for go to Robin Hood's relief and recovery efforts, which will be deployed directly to the organizations on the front lines, serving the city's most vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sykes told PIX11 the telethon brings New York’s biggest stars together to mark the beginning to the state’s comeback and shows “how creative we can be” seeing that everything will be done virtually.

Rise Up New York! Airs on PIX11 Monday at 7 p.m. ET.
