Even the COVID-19 pandemic can’t stop Pride. The celebration will continue, but in a whole new way — virtually.

Alex Roque from The Ali Forney Center spoke to PIX11 Morning News to kick things off ahead of this weekend’s events.

The organization, which was chosen to be one of the Grand Marshals of this year’s virtual march, was named after a gender-nonconforming teen who was dedicated to helping other young people and publicly advocated for the safety of homeless LGBT youth. The organization’s mission is to protect LGBTQ youths from the harms of homelessness and empower them with the tools needed to live independently.

Roque also discussed how the organization is assisting in the Black Lives Matter and Trans Lives Matter movements.
