PARSIPPANY, N.J. — The owners of a New Jersey salon say they will defy the state’s stay-at-home order and reopen their business in June.

The Brick and Mirror Beauty Bar in Parsippany closed back in March, writing on social media that it was following Gov. Phil Murphy’s executive order mandating non-essential businesses close.

Now, the salon will reopen on June 1 in defiance of that order.

The co-owners told CNN Tuesday night that the decision to reopen was about helping their staff.

They also plan to implement new safety protocols, including mandatory masks and gloves for employees, spacing out appointments, limiting capacity, and sanitizing stations and equipment in between each client.

In Bellmawr, meanwhile, the owners of a gym that reopened this week were cited twice in two days for violating the stay-at-home order, state officials have said.
