BELLMAWR, N.J. — A gym in southern New Jersey reopened Monday in defiance of a state order that shutdown non-essential businesses to help stem the spread of the coronavirus.
A steady stream of customers entered the Atilis Gym in Bellmawr as the day progressed Monday.
Police later informed the gym owners they were in violation of the state order but didn't close the business.
The owners have said the decision to resume operations at the members-only facility wasn't about financial gain, but rather a question of Constitutional rights.
The owners added that they have taken several steps to ensure social distancing and taken other precautions.
