NEW YORK — Nearly 200 members of the NYPD are back in action after testing positive for novel coronavirus, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said Monday.
They were medically cleared. On Monday, nearly 7,000 uniformed members of the NYPD were out on sick report.
"Thank you to all of our cops, citywide, who have recovered and are steadily returning to their jobs — helping keep New Yorkers safe," Shea tweeted.
Officer Prieto with the 19th precinct was one of the returning officers.
"Welcome back Officer Prieto, one of our first officers fully recovered from COVID-19, back full duty & fit as a fiddle! Not to worry—the mask is only for extra protection. We’re so happy to have him back," the precinct tweeted.
