NEW YORK — More than 10 percent of the NYPD's uniformed employees were out sick on Thursday as the coronavirus outbreak continues, department officials said.
There are 294 uniformed members and 57 civilian members who have tested positive for COVID-19, officials said.
Thursday's sick report of 10.1 percent is an increase from Wednesday, when 8.9 percent of uniformed members were out sick, and Tuesday, when 7.6 members were on sick report.
On Monday, 6.6 percent of uniformed members were out sick, officials said. That alone is more than double the typical daily average.
"The NYPD is extremely concerned for the well-being of officers as they continue to be on the front lines of the City’s coronavirus response," the department said in a statement Wednesday.
