NEW JERSEY — Gloomy weather may be to blame for the low turnout at the Jersey Shore this holiday weekend.

Beaches in Asbury Park were certainly not crowded as they normally would be on a holiday weekend and most of those who were out maintained social distancing guidelines

Seasonal beach passes in Asbury Park are already sold out; they sold at 50% capacity.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has left it up to municipalities to decide how to reopen their boardwalks and beaches.

On Friday, he increased the limit on outdoor gatherings from 10 to 25. Local businesses on the boardwalk also reopening for take-out service.

Police patrolled the beaches and made sure people adhered to social distancing guidelines.
