MANHATTAN — St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Midtown Manhattan has been particularly devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic, losing about 60 of its 800 parishioners since March, most of whom are part of its Latino ministry.

St. Peter`s Lutheran Church has opted to remain digital only, pivoting to broadcast its digital services from inside the parish with up to 10 staff members

They are also relaunching its Jazz Vespers program, an homage to the Church`s unique history within the jazz community.

Bishop Paul Egensteiner and Christopher Vergara, who runs the church’s advocacy task force, spoke to PIX11 about how the church community is doing and the relaunch of the jazz program.
