JERSEY CITY, N.J. — When Shafqat Khan died from the coronavirus at age 76, he left behind his wife, three children, seven grandchildren and a legacy of connections.

His daughter Sabila Khan said her father spent years trying to help other Pakistani immigrants living in in Jersey City, just across the Hudson River from New York City.

Khan hosted events on how to apply for drivers’ licenses and encouraged dialogue between communities of different faiths and cultures after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Since his death last month, Sabila Khan said she has taken comfort from people who told their stories about how her father impacted their lives.
