BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn — A second Brooklyn principal is suffering from coronavirus, hospitalized in the ICU, according to a city official.

Councilmember Mark Treyger said in a Facebook post that Ronda Phillips, principal of Kappa V High School, was in the ICU. Kappa V is co-located in the same campus as Brooklyn Democracy, where Principal Dezann Romain worked.

Romain died from complications of COVID-19.

"I’m devastated to learn that Principal Ronda Phillips of Kappa V HS is in ICU and wish her a safe recovery," the post said.

Treyger also had a message for the city's health and education departments, as well as City Hall.

"We need to resume tracking and reporting cases in our school communities, regardless of the fact that we have moved to remote learning. If we can do it for the NYPD, we can do it for the DOE."

Romain, 36, was the first death of a city public school employee connected to the pandemic.
