UPPER EAST SIDE — A 4-year-old girl was found safe hours after she was reported missing Wednesday morning, officials said.

The girl was found in a day care in Harlem around noon, law enforcement sources told PIX11.

The girl was initially reported missing at the Lexington Av – 59 St. station around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday after she was allegedly separated from her mother.

The mother was initially taken into custody after her narrative of the incident changed several times, according to police sources. PIX11 was on scene when the woman was led out in handcuffs.

Police later said she will not be charged. The mother allegedly told police she forgot that she dropped the child off at day care.

Editor’s note: The child’s name and image were removed from this story once she was found, and the mother’s image removed once police said she would not face charges.

Correction: The story initially misreported the date the incident occurred. It has since been updated.
