MIDTOWN — Several manhole fires that broke out in Midtown Manhattan temporarily prompted the closure of several streets Friday morning.

Second Avenue between East 34th and East 42nd streets have reopened to traffic as of 10 a.m., officials said.

Fire officials responded to a call of a manhole fire along East 36th Street and Second Avenue shortly after 8 a.m.
