Hart Island is the largest public cemetery in the country.
But, few New Yorkers have ever stepped foot on it.
Quiet funerals on this island have been taking place since 1881; to this day, it is the final resting place for inmates, the destitute, and sometimes, even loved ones that end up there by mistake.
For decades, it was closed to the public.
But tonight, PIX11 takes gives you unprecedented access to the inside of Hart Island.
Join us tonight on the PIX11 News at 10:30 for this special report.
