LONG BEACH, N.Y. —Police say a Brooklyn man drowned off the shores of Long Beach Monday evening.
Long Beach police received a call around 6:30 p.m., for a man in the water near Edwards Boulevard.
When police arrived, they found the 26-year-old unconscious.
He was rushed to an area hospital where he died.
Photos uploaded to Twitter show an active police presence on the beach.
Police say the victim, who was from Brooklyn, was swimming with a friend. The other swimmer was not injured.
He has not yet been identified pending family notification.
