NEW YORK— Sunshine and spotty showers accompanied gusty winds and chilly temperatures Sunday.
Wet snowflakes actually mixed in over the higher elevations of the western Poconos and northern Catskills. Sunday's high was only 57 and the normal is 71.
This chilly air mass will allow Sunday night's lows to dip into the low 40's in the City and 30's in the suburbs when the core of the unseasonable air mass is over us.
If the City reaches 42, that will tie a very old and long-standing record set back in 1878.
On Monday, the temperature will moderate into the middle 60's with plenty of sun.
It could reach the upper 60's on Tuesday but clouds will be moving in and we have a chance of showers from late day into Tuesday night and possibly Wednesday.
Most weather maps are coming into line for a period of wet weather into mid week.
However, the latter part of the week will be drier and temperatures will recover back into the 70's.
It will feel like real spring again from Thursday on!
