Man, 36, dies of heart attack in early morning Bronx apartment fire

WAKEFIELD, The Bronx — A 36-year-old man is dead after an early morning fire swept through an apartment in the Bronx Sunday.

FDNY responded to the fire around 2:41 a.m. on the third floor of an apartment at 655 E. 230th St. in the Wakefield section of the Bronx.

Police say the man, identified as James Turtein, was having a heart attack when he was found by firefighters in his third floor apartment.

He was transported to Montefiore Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The fire marshal does not believe the cause of the fire is suspicious.
