HUNTS POINT, Bronx– A driver who police say intentionally rammed his ATV into a on-duty cop on the Fourth of July was arrested.

Police responded to a 911 call of an NYPD officer assaulted in front of 672 Hunts Point Ave. Saturday evening.

The suspect, 44-year-old George Evangelista, was operating an ATV 4-wheeler and drove into an on-duty uniformed police officer while he was a riding a four-wheeled ATV from the rear at a high-rate of speed, causing the officer to fall to the ground, according to the NYPD.

The officer sustained lacerations to both arms and injuries to his back and neck, cops said. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital where he was treated and released.

Evangelista of the Bronx faces several charges including two counts of assault on a police officer, menacing, harassment and reckless endangerment, police said.
