MANHATTAN-- Book lovers sat on the steps of City Hall overnight to push for more funding for New York City's public libraries.

They are looking for money from City Hall to keep these libraries open and running.

Council member Jimmy Van Bramer is leading a citywide effort to secure $65 million in funding to restore six-day service for the city's three library systems.

About $1.4 billion is needed in capital funds over the next 10 years to bring all neighborhoods branches into a state of good repair. Some of them need computers, new books for children and more staff.
