NEW YORK (PIX11) -- NYPD Officer Farrell Conroy wasn’t hiding, but standing along East Drive in Central Park Wednesday in plain view of every cyclist that approached.

But apparently even that wasn’t enough to remind some bikers of the duty at hand -- to stop at the red light, maintain the park’s 25 mile an hour cyclist speed limit and obey other traffic laws.

Cops are indeed cracking down after a cyclist last week struck and killed a pedestrian, handing out more than one hundred summonses over this past weekend alone.
